Client Preparation

A number of our clients have asked us to help them prepare their clients for events such as four-way meetings, pretrial conferences, and other proceedings that are likely to be upsetting. The concern is that some emotional overload will cause the client to react in ways that will be detrimental to the case. In response we do a client assessment to ascertain what worrisome reactions are likely and what might set them off. We then use tried and true social learning techniques such as scripting, role-play, self-modeling, and rehearsal to get the client ready to contain him/herself whatever is thrown their way. Most often this intervention is accomplished in one or two meetings, and serves as a useful adjunct to whatever preparation work the attorney may do personally.
